Natasha Lands -- Uniform

Natasha Lands Uniform
photographic digital prints

"Through the photographic medium, my work depicts elements of youth culture within Vancouver. I am interested in how its sub-genres identify themselves within contemporary society. In the series Uniform, youth are depicted in work uniforms and lifestyle uniforms, exploring transitions within societal structures. Using the photographic medium as a direct representative, grey scale depicts multiculturalism within the urban youth community. The series uses cross-processed film techniques expressing performativity within youth cross-dressed culture. As a young photographer, it is not only important to understand Vancouver’s most noted photographic past but to also continue to create and redefine its future."
